Innovation in Carbon Capture and Transport

A consortium consisting of Cemex, a global leader in building materials, and Linde, a global leader in industrial gases and engineering, has been selected to receive €157 million from the EU Innovation Fund for a groundbreaking CO₂ capture project at Cemex’s cement plant in Rüdersdorf, Germany.

Innovation Fund: €4.2 billion to support 77 cutting-edge decarbonisation projects for EU’s clean energy transition

Today, 77 decarbonisation projects have signed their grant agreements following the announcement of the Innovation Fund 2023 Call (IF23) results in October 2024. The selected projects from 18 European countries are expected to enter into operation between 2025 and 2031. The funding comes from the revenues of the EU Emissions Trading System. The grants range from €1.4 million to €262 million for projects with the potential to reduce emissions by some 397.6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent over their first ten years of operation.

EU selects pioneering CO₂ capture project at CEMEX cement plant in Ruedersdorffor funding

Rüdersdorf, October 24, 2024 – Global building materials provider Cemex has been selected for the preparation of a funding agreement: Its CO₂ capture project “CO2LLECT” at the cement plant in Rüdersdorf, Brandenburg, is set to receive financial support from the EU Innovation Fund.
